Louis Feraud was a renowned French fashion designer, born in 1921 in Arles, France, and celebrated for his sophisticated yet bold couture creations. He started his fashion career in the early 1950s, opening his first boutique in Cannes, which quickly attracted the attention of high-profile clients like Brigitte Bardot. Feraud’s early success was largely driven by his iconic designs for Bardot, which she wore in several of her films. This propelled his fame and led him to open a Parisian atelier in 1955, where he continued to attract an elite clientele, including Ingrid Bergman and Kim Novak.

Feraud’s most notable contributions were his Haute Couture collections, which debuted in 1958, and his successful transition into ready-to-wear in the 1970s. By the late 1970s, his designs, marked by their graphic style and modernity, were awarded prestigious honours, such as the Golden Thimble Award in 1978 and 1984. His work was known for its elegant, yet daring flair, often playing with bright colours, sharp lines, and structured designs.

In addition to fashion, Louis Feraud made a significant mark in the fragrance industry, launching perfumes like Fantasque (1981), Vivage (1984), and Cote d’Azur (1988), in collaboration with Avon. These perfumes were among the earliest designer fragrances to be marketed by Avon, and they were well-received, cementing Feraud’s influence beyond fashion
